Isha Upanishad

The Isha Upanishad also called Ishavasya Upanishad is one of the shortest yet most powerful Upanishads consisting of only 18 verses. It is the first Upanishad in the Shukla Yajurveda and teaches the fundamental truth that everything in the universe is pervaded by the Lord

Sanskrit Text

Om isavasyam idam sarvam yat kincha jagatyam jagat tena tyaktena bhunjitha ma gridhah kasyasvid dhanam

Translation

Om All this whatever exists in this changing universe should be covered by the Lord Protect yourself through that detachment Do not covet anybodys wealth

Commentary

The opening verse teaches us the profound truth that everything in creation belongs to the Divine When we see the Lord in everything we naturally develop detachment and can enjoy life without possessiveness
